Charles Matton

So i was told about the artist Charles Matton recently, he is a French artist who creates meticulous miniature versions of the interiors of studio spaces which were used by the likes of Francis Bacon, Rembrandt, Hopper and Giacometti, as well as Baudrillards’s library and Freud’s study. The atmospheric boxes are handmade with intricate details in miniature, including light sockets, furniture and fading wallpaper.
Matton's minature boxes fascinate me, because the detail seems unreal, i feel like he's a step above the rest...and when i look back at the other artists who've interested me such as Slinkachu and Pablo Degaldo, I realise that although their style is completely different, i also think their concept of the noun 'minature' have a diverse meaning to the eachother.
I'm very excited, because Matton's current exhibition, 'Enclosures' is being showcased at All Visual Arts in Kings Cross, London. The exhibition will display his boxes of minature scenes, and i'll be able to see firsthand the intricate detail which has been put into each piece of furniture, wallpaper, lighting and other specific items.
The exhibiton finishes October 6th, so i'm making a visit before it closes! Also i need to go the Liverpool Tate before the end of October to see Robert Therrien's Smoke Signals, while it's still there!
...I think both exhibitions will give me the inspiration i've been looking for.

Little door.
This is a little door i've made, i still have a few things to finish it, i need to paint the door and add a few details here and there. I'm going to take the door and place it around Manchester, putting it in places which will question its significence...i want peolpe to question why it's there, what's behind it and who lives there? To me, it's a secret door, and there's no right or wrong answer, and it can be whatever you want it to be.
I've photgraphed my blackberry next to the door, so you can see the scale of the door.
